Getting Pregnant Thick Pill To Prevent Obesity In Babies
British scientists have launched an investigation into a pill which could prevent babies being born overweight. The study do about 400 mothers-along with obesity.
Half of them receives from the 12th week of pregnancy drug three times daily metaformine and the other half a placebo.
Metaformine is a drug normally prescribed for diabetic patients. It is safely used by them for decades, even during pregnancy. Metaformine lowers insulin levels in the blood of the mother. Obese women are more insulin than other mothers-and this means that the babies more fat, sugar and other foods be given.
Metaformine ensures only that the supply of food from the mother to the baby decreases. So the pregnant woman does not deviate.
According to the doctors in the study were pregnant women, obesity epidemic begins to take shape and it is imperative to the health of the children of the future to protect. Babies at birth have been overweight in adulthood twice as likely to be obese.
According to Professor Norman from Edinburgh University’s metaformine a safe drug, but research is needed to ensure that the benefits to outweigh any possible risk. During the study, the health of mothers and their babies closely monitored. The first results are expected for about 4 years.
