Beautify and Increase The confidence With Breast Implants
The Health Care Inspectorate calls on all women with breast implants from French Poly Implant Prosthesis (PIP) and the Dutch brand M-Implants in order to be examined if they have not done since April when their doctor or their them is not called.
The inspection does this in consultation with the Dutch Association of Plastic Surgeons. Reason for the call is that the implants have an increased risk of tearing and / or leaking, and it is not clear whether the longer term, potential body reactions to silicone gel may occur. The call covers all women with implants of the PIP and M-brand implants manufactured after 2001. These are the type numbers IMGHC-TX, and MX-IMGHC IMGHC-LS. In the Netherlands, estimated at several hundred women. The Inspectorate did in April of this year has called on women to get checked in case of complaints. As was already an investigation by the French regulator Afssaps medical implants that have an increased chance of rupture and / or leakage. Now, the Inspectorate also women who have no symptoms. The French regulator has this week announced the first results of additional research into the composition of the shell of the implants and the silicone gel used. This revealed that in addition to the implants rupture and leak also able to ‘sweat’. This allows the implant shell somewhat continuous gel. The study shows that the gel is no acute danger to the health of women. It is not clear whether the long-term health can be expected. To determine whether this is the case, does the French regulator over the coming months further investigation. Results are only in the course of 2011. A ruptured or leaking implants do not directly reason for physical complaints. The Inspectorate therefore calls upon women with the implants as soon as possible to be examined by their treating specialist. Then she and the doctor can assess whether the removal of the implants is sensible.
